Welcome to the Rotaract Club of Silicon Valley

The Rotaract Club of Silicon Valley is comprised of a group of young professionals who are dedicated to making an impact in the community through service, social and networking events. Rotaract fosters leadership and responsibility, encourages high ethical standards and promotes international understanding and peace. Based in San Jose, California, Rotaract Club of Silicon Valley is the oldest, community-based Rotaract club in the area.

Club Meeting - Guest Speaker: Aaron McDaniel, Entrepreneur and Public Speaker

Club Meeting @ Eulipia Restaurant and Bar, 6pm

Please join us for this week's Club Meeting featuring guest speaker Aaron McDaniel, a corporate manager, entrepreneur, public speaker and community leader. A graduate of UC Berkeley’s Undergraduate Haas School of Business, Aaron is a Senior Director of Global Strategy & Business Development at AT&T. Aaron is also the founder of Flagdown Taxi, a smartphone application company and Pong360, an ecommerce firm focused on selling products to college students and young professionals. 

An avid international traveler, Aaron has visited 33 countries most recently going to Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Aaron is in the process of writing a book to help young professionals adjust to the corporate world and writes a blog called Young Professional’s Edge or YP Edge (http://ypedge.com).

We will be meeting in the downstairs bar at Eulipia at 6pm for socializing, followed by our club meeting from 6:30-7:30 upstairs.

Please join us for this week's Club Meeting featuring guest speaker Alison High, Community Relations Coordinator of the San Jose Earthquakes. Alison graduated from St. Mary's College and, in addition to her current position with the Earthquakes, has worked with the San Jose Sharks and the San Jose Stealth lacrosse team.

We will be meeting in the downstairs bar at Eulipia at 6pm for socializing, followed by our club meeting from 6:30-7:30 upstairs.

Please join us for this week's Club Meeting featuring guest speaker Shirley Lewis, President of the Rotary Club of San Jose and Assistant Vice President at Old Republic Title company.

Shirley is a native of San Jose and a San Jose State University graduate. She served as a San Jose councilmember for twelve years and as the Executive Director of the San Jose Symphony for six and a half years. Shirley presently serves as the President of the Rotary Club of San Jose (2011 - 2012).

We will also be celebrating the holidays with appetizers and a toy drive (please bring a $5-10 toy for any age group) so join us at the downstairs bar at Eulipia at 6pm, followed by our Club Meeting at 6:30pm.

Please join us for this week's club meeting featuring guest speaker Charles Schmuck, Founder and President of the Peninsula College Fund and a history teacher at Presentation High School.

PCF is a non-profit organization whose mission is to assist low-income, first generation students in their quest to graduate from college and help them achieve their short and long-term education and career goals.

We will be meeting in the downstairs bar at Eulipia at 6pm for socializing, followed by our club meeting from 6:30-7:30 upstairs.

Service Project: Our City Forest

Our City Forest new nursery

9am - 12pm

This Saturday, November 12th, we will be attending a work day at Our City Forest's new nursery. OCF's (http://www.ourcityforest.org/) mission is to cultivate a green and healthy San José metropolis by engaging community members in the  appreciation, protection, growth and maintenance of our urban ecosystem, especially our urban forest.

Please join us from 9am - 12pm at the new nursery.

What to bring:

All volunteers should wear close-toed shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Also, bring drinking water and be prepared with sun/rain protection. Some heavy lifting may be required. We also recommend you bring gardening gloves if you have them, though not required.  Please remember, we work rain or shine!
